Onward & upward

Fall Conferences: A time to learn about how my boys are doing at school.  I usually brace myself as it is kind of hard to hear some of the things.   The school year did not start out well, there were meltdowns and tears, there were behaviors on the behavior sheets that were not appropriate, there was the day that Eli's teacher and the principal met me at the car after school and used the word, suspend(fortunately, we got the punishment reduced to a letter of apology).

Yesterday, we went to the Middle School and visited with Eli's teachers.  He has several now that he is in 6th grade.  All of them had only positive things to say.   No, he is not the smartest kid is class, in fact he is in Special Ed. for 3 of his classes now, and the regular classes he is in, there are modifications. But he is going to all his classes, doing the work-usually with the help of his aides, and really making some nice improvements.  His medication that we started a few months ago is working-he is more focused, less fidgety.  He has come leaps & bounds since last year and really, what more can I ask for?

Aidan's conference was tonight.   He is very smart, which we already knew- he is at a fifth grade reading level, and goes to ELC for reading & math.  More importantly, those behaviors are getting fewer and he is becoming more independent.

It was quite honestly the best conferences we have had in years!  I am so thankful for the all the people who work with my boys!  I might actually look forward to Spring conferences:)
